Case Study: Upgrading the University of Tennessee's Aquatic Center with UDT's Ultra Chip Flake System!
Built in 2008, the Allen Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee faced ongoing issues with its 2” mosaic tile flooring, which deteriorated over time, leading to frequent repairs and extended pool closures. To address these concerns, Surface Cleaning Innovations (the local UDT distributor) recommended removing the tile and grout and installing the UDT full-flake system with an Ultra HTS topcoat.
The system includes a base coat of MC Epoxy Silver Gray as a "receiver coat" for the full flake broadcast, a "grout coat" of UltraSpartic 85-EXT, and a final topcoat of Ultra HTS to achieve improved slip resistance, increased durability/longevity, and a beautiful, consistent appearance.
The University of Tennessee's Athletic Department praised the outcome, noting the floor's "improved performance and esthetics". The contractor, Nick Blankenship, with Titan Exterior Services stated, "Ultra Durable Technologies and Surface Cleaning Innovations provided the technical support and products we needed to meet our client's needs and desired look.
