Simply put, there is no better coatings sealer for LVT(Luxury Vinyl Tile), LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank), and Sheet Vinyl!

FACTORY FINISHES DO NOT LAST!

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank), and Sheet Vinyl are flooring products comprised of several layers of artificial materials. Among those layers is the top transparent wear layer, which ranges from 4 to 40 mils in thickness. In some cases, this layer may be coated with a factory-applied finish that is marketed as “no-wax” or “maintenance-free.” Nevertheless, the wear layer will gradually degrade over time due to foot traffic and the movement of furniture. Additionally, because LVT/LVP is highly textured, it can be more difficult to clean and maintain when compared to VCT.

So, you may ask yourself, "Can you seal vinyl plank flooring? The short answer is yes! Regardless of whether it comes with a factory finish, UDT recommends applying EPIC High-Performance Floor Finish to enhance the flooring’s appearance and, more importantly, to protect LVT.

LUXURY VINYL: THE BASICS

The performance of luxury vinyl flooring is largely defined by the materials used in its construction. Engineered vinyl planks and tiles are manufactured with one of three primary core types:

  • WPC (Wood Plastic Composite)

  • PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)

  • SPC (Stone Plastic Composite)

WPC and PVC cores provide a softer, more cushioned feel underfoot. In contrast, Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) is the most durable of the three and is commonly referred to as Rigid Core or Engineered Vinyl Tile/Plank (EVT/EVP) flooring. Composed of approximately 70% stone powder and 30% PVC, SPC cores deliver exceptional strength and dimensional stability. This makes them a preferred choice for high-traffic commercial environments, though they offer less flexibility and cushioning underfoot.
