Winter Weather and Building Entrances
With the arrival of winter, facility entrance floors can a take a beating from dirt, debris, and salt that is routinely tracked in by foot traffic. Even more importantly, the moisture can make floors extremely slippery. However, this does not need to be the case if you take the following few key steps.
Monitor entrances throughout the day to make sure floors remain dry and free from moisture, dirt, and salt. Remember, when salty water dries, it can leave behind a salt residue which can damage surface materials. UDT offers an effective way to remove salt with itsFloor Conditioner and Neutralizer. When mixed with water, this citric acid solution will aid in the removal of high-pH, hazy ice-melt residue.
Apply one thin layer of EPIC High-Performance Floor Finish to clean, bare floors. EPIC provides an impermeable barrier that prohibits dirt, debris, and moisture from making direct contact with the flooring material, seams and grouted joints.
To substantially increase traction (and abrasion resistance), UDT recommends mixingUDT Aggregate orUltra Gripinto EPIC before application. Several different levels of grit are offered to meet your needs.
Make sure to install mats both in the breezeways (if the building has one) and just inside inner entrance doors.
Don't let nasty rock salt enter your building and leave a mess on your floors!

It is extremely satisfying to admire new, beautifully coated floors. Unfortunately, when a rolling or T-bar/back-roll job is not executed properly, your floors may yield unsightly roller lines and marks. Customer may request a “do-over”, which can be avoided by following this handy, 5-item checklist created by UDT.
