LUXURY VINYL FLOOR CARE

PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT AND REJUVENATE FLOORS WITH EPIC

Looking for a smarter way to maintain luxury vinyl flooring? EPIC® High-Performance Floor Finish is a water-based urethane engineered to protect and enhance today’s vinyl floors. Designed for LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank), and sheet vinyl, EPIC delivers durable protection, long-lasting performance (proven to last 3-5 years or longer!), and a consistently polished appearance. When it comes to sealing and safeguarding LVT, LVP, and sheet vinyl, there’s simply no better resilient floor finish solution .

FACTORY FINISHES DO NOT LAST!

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank), and Sheet Vinyl are flooring products comprised of several layers of artificial materials. Among those layers is the top transparent wear layer, which ranges from 4 to 40 mils in thickness. In some cases, this layer may be coated with a factory-applied finish that is marketed as “no-wax” or “maintenance-free.” Nevertheless, the wear layer will gradually degrade over time due to foot traffic and the movement of furniture. Additionally, because LVT/LVP is highly textured, it can be more difficult to clean and maintain when compared to VCT.

So, you may ask yourself, "Can you seal vinyl plank flooring?" Yes, you can! Regardless of whether it comes with a factory finish, UDT recommends applying EPIC High-Performance Floor Finish to enhance the flooring’s appearance and, more importantly, to protect LVT.

EPIC is Built to Withstand the Toughest Commercial Environments

EPIC isn’t just another resilient floor finish, it’s engineered to perform under pressure. From high-traffic retail spaces and hospitals to schools, airports, and corporate offices, EPIC stands up to daily abuse that quickly wears down ordinary finishes. EPIC’s advanced polymer technology creates a dense, protective film that resists scuffs, scratches, stains, and black heel marks, keeping your floors looking newer, longer.

Over the last 2 decades, EPIC has become the trusted product that helps ensure your sealed vinyl flooring performs as expected throughout its intended lifespan. Want some proof? Read this featured case study to learn about the proven performance of EPIC on LVP, LVT, and sheet vinyl.

LOWER MAINTANANCE COSTS AND RESOURCE USE

Because EPIC eliminates buffing and drastically reduces recoating frequency, facilities can significantly reduce labor and material costs associated with floorcare.

Many facilities see up to 71% savings in annual floor maintenance costs, thanks to reduced labor hours, fewer chemicals, and less equipment use. Over time, those savings can be redirected toward other important building improvements.

Learn how organizations are reducing maintenance costs by using UDT high-performance floor coating systems.

PREVENT SLIPS AND FALLS, PLUS ADD ABRASION RESISTANCE

EPIC can also be mixed with our two additives, UDT Ultra Grip and UDT Aggregate Additive.  Both offer added slip resistance, especially near entrances. They not only provide much needed traction, but they also protect surfaces by adding abrasion resistance against foot traffic, scuffs, and scratches from furniture and equipment.

SUSTAINABLE FLOORCARE THAT KEEPS FACILITIES RUNNING

EPIC also minimizes operational disruptions. Floors can be ready for foot traffic in as little as four hours, with an optional eight-hour cure schedule available when desired. With recoating needed only every three to five years, facilities experience far fewer maintenance shutdowns compared with traditional wax programs.

This makes EPIC an ideal solution for commercial buildings, retail stores, schools, healthcare facilities, and other high-traffic environments that require reliable, sustainable floor protection.

WHAT TYPE OF LVP/LVT ARE YOU PROTECTING AND WHY IT MATTERS

What are WPC and SPC?

WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) and SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) are both types of rigid core luxury vinyl flooring. They fall under the broader LVT/LVP category but are distinguished by their core construction.

  • WPC flooring features a core made from a blend of wood fibers, plastic polymers, and foaming agents. This creates a thicker, more cushioned product.
  • SPC flooring uses a core composed of limestone powder, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and stabilizers. The result is a denser, more rigid material.

While both are engineered for durability and water resistance, their structural differences lead to distinct performance characteristics.

Key Differences Between WPC and SPC

WPC and SPC are both rigid-core LVT/LVP systems engineered to meet ASTM F3261 performance standards, ensuring durability, stability, and suitability for residential and commercial environments.

While they may look the same, the difference lies in their core construction, which directly impacts performance in the field.

Both WPC and SPC offer:

  • Wide design and aesthetic options
  • Waterproof performance
  • Compatibility with floating/click-lock installation systems

Durability and Rigidity:

  • SPC: Higher density for superior dent and impact resistance; ideal for high-traffic environments
  • WPC: More flexible with a softer feel; durable, but more prone to indentation under heavy loads

Comfort and Sound:

  • WPC: Better underfoot comfort and sound absorption due to its thicker, foamed core
  • SPC: More rigid underfoot; acoustics can be improved with attached underlayments

Water Resistance and Stability:

  • Both are waterproof and perform well in moisture-prone environments
  • SPC: Greater dimensional stability; less expansion and contraction with temperature changes

Installation Considerations:

  • Both use click-lock floating systems
  • SPC: Better at bridging minor subfloor imperfections
  • WPC: May require a smoother, more prepared substrate

Ideal Applications:

  • WPC: Residential spaces, offices, and areas where comfort and noise reduction are priorities
  • SPC: Commercial, industrial, and high-traffic environments with heavy loads or temperature fluctuations

The Solution is EPIC!

EPIC®, UDT’s water-based urethane floor finish, is engineered to bond to and protect both WPC and SPC flooring. It creates a durable wear layer that reduces scratching, preserves appearance, and simplifies maintenance, especially in high-traffic environments. EPIC also restores color and sheen to worn floors and can be applied in wet areas where additional traction is needed.

For WPC and SPC installations, adding EPIC helps minimize callbacks, extend floor life, and deliver a more durable, consistent finish.
